Portfolio site for award-winning children’s book Illustrator

I collaborated with Sebastien Braun on a new content-managed portfolio site that would allow Seb to showcase his work, be found by visitors across Europe and tell the story of his work as an artist and sculptor in addition to his fabulous children’s book illustration.

During an briefing workshop at Seb’s studio, we reviewed his previous portfolio site and talked about the new site’s requirements, including:

  • the ability to demonstrate his fine art and sculpture without confusing the site’s main message

  • showcase key pieces from his portfolio, including his work with bestselling author Julia Donaldson

  • the ability to perform well in SEO

  • potential to make the site bi-lingual in a ‘phase 2’

Initial submersion and exploration phase

I spent time getting to understand Seb’s background and work to date before using mood boards and concept designs to explore initial ideas and agree a creative direction for the new site.

Portfolio site for Sebastien Braun

The site now showcases the broad range of Seb’s work, as well as offering up case studies on key pieces that resonate with Seb’s audience and support SEO.

Seb’s work can now be more easily found through search engines and feedback on the site from publishers and the public has been extremely positive.
